From the Back Forty to Your Backyard.

Who We Are

Built on a Family Tradition of Craftsmanship

Back Forty Milling & Woodwork was brought to life by Doug and his commitment to quality craftsmanship, custom work, and attention to detail. That connection to wood working runs deeper than just the work he does today—it is part of his family's history.

Doug's family has generations of experience working with wood and building with their hands. His family history traces back to the Baba Brothers Boatworks in British Columbia, where his relatives built fishing boats and later operated a boat works and carpentry shop. The craft was passed down through generations, with woodworking and hands-on craftsmanship becoming an important part of the family's story.

Today, Doug carries that same appreciation for craftsmanship into Back Forty Milling & Woodwork. With a hands-on approach and an eye for detail, he enjoys taking projects from raw material all the way to the finished product. From bringing the portable sawmill to a customer's property to creating custom woodworking and carpentry projects, he takes pride in delivering work that is functional, unique, and built to last.

For Doug, every project is an opportunity to create something that is truly one of a kind. He works closely with each customer to understand their ideas, offer practical solutions, and bring their vision to life.

At Back Forty, the tradition continues—one cut, one project, and one piece of craftsmanship at a time.
